Parts of the Eye
The sclera is the white, protective, outer layer of the eye.
The pupil is a small hole in the center of the iris that lets light into the eye. It looks black because the light is absorbed inside the eye.
The iris is a thin, circular part of the eye that controls the size of the pupil. It also gives your eye its color.
The cornea is the clear, front part of the eye and it helps focus light onto the retina.
The crystalline lens is a transparent, flexible structure that, along with the cornea, focuses light onto the retina. It changes shape to help the eye focus on objects at different distances.
The retina is a light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that captures light and sends visual information to the brain through the optic nerve.
The macula and fovea are small areas within the retina that help determine the color and detail of what you see.
